Aspirations

January 31st, 2008 .

This may be the best answer to this question ever. I mean, really, what else could you aspire to be that would be more awesome? Yeah, nothing. Thank you Sherie Spangler. You said it all.

Frozen

January 28th, 2008 .

I am South Florida right now. So, I guess you could say that I am literally and figuratively going through a dethaw from what feels to be the longest winter of my life. I have never been a fan of winter. Of course, snow is beautiful and magical and the holidays bring childhood back in neatly wrapped packages. But, the season itself that continues on way after Santa has made his exit? Yeah, I have a hard time living it out. So, here I sit- on the precipice of change and under a bright, clear, blue sky, the warm sun and the salty water hitting the dock as the boats sail by. I am ready. Honestly, I have been frozen since sometime in 2006 and somehow made it around the sun without letting it melt me. I needed to melt in order to be able to move. So on the ground around me is a puddle and here….here I am again.

Bug blur

January 20th, 2008 .

I spent the past days at the Kansas State Thespian conference along with Jamie, Ryan and our pal John Henningsen. We had a ball and took lots of crazy pictures…all of which I am too lazy to post right now. We also wrote some rockin’ songs in workshops…all of which I am too lazy to post right now=) I have the funk. I don’t know when it will go away, but it all started with the flu before Christmas. Jamie and I both got attacked and it just keeps circling my body. No matter the amount of fluids I drink, good food I eat, vitamins I swallow, miles I run, hours I sleep it will not leave my body completely. I think I must go get some drugs. The final straw. Boo to drugs. But, and even bigger boo to the party this bug is having in my body.

I am in rehearsal for Carry On (the 2006 Lovewell Ft. Lauderdale show) here in Salina. There is something so incredible about watching other people breathe life into characters that people you love created.

Happy Birthday, beautiful little Chloe.

Headed down south to the land of sun this week. Maybe sunshine and salt water is exactly what the doctor ordered.

To Note…

January 12th, 2008 .

Today is the one year anniversary of the day my father quit smoking. It was a huge feat. He had smoked for 44 years. I cannot tell you how proud I am of him. Congrats Phrank with a “Ph”! This calls for a trip to the Chinese buffet!

Random 2008 Thoughts

Spent this past weekend in St. Louis at a Thespian conference. Going to one of those things alone? Yeah, totally weird. However, I did get to hang out with my professor from college: the very lovely Kat Singleton. Hmm, some things never change. Her and I talking uncontrollably? That is one of them.

I sort of hate New Year’s resolutions. They place all this unwanted pressure on ones self in a world that is full of pressure on a daily basis. Deep, huh? So, I have decided to just adopt a few motto’s for the year of ‘08. The first and main one is “Does that make you happy?” Now, this can be used to inquire about other peoples happiness as well as to question myself. It seems simple enough, but is often times forgotten. 2008 is going to equal the year of happiness. Period. The other motto is stolen directly from the 1990’s Nike ads: “just do it.” I mean really, how could you go wrong? It worked for Nike=)
